THE FLATS CHICAGO: THE LAWRENCE HOUSE

“The Lawrence House has been a cornerstone of life since its construction in the early 20th century. Originally an upscale apartment hotel, this art deco building has been renovated for the modern conveniences of today,” according to the Flats Chicago website.

In October 2015, I fell in love with The Lawrence House, located in Uptown, and decided to move into the building. I’m not going to lie, I was dazzled with the amenities such as: in building coffeehouse, bar, free internet, in-unit washer/dryer, swimming pool, gym, and the ability to have any sized dog I wanted.

I love being able to go to the lobby (I wrote this there, lol) and work on my blog with minimal distractions. I definitely tip my non-existent hat off to the interior designer of The Lawrence House. I have some serious style envy.

There’s also a sense of history within the building–sitting in the lobby, gazing upwards at the stained glass ceiling, I can’t help to think about the jazz era and the incredible people that must’ve lived here in the prohibition days.

The building is constantly putting on cool events such as free jazz concerts, barista throw-downs with The Heritage Outpost (the in-house coffee shop), and more!

There’s never a dull moment and it’s nice to know that even in the winter, I can be a hermit if I wish and not have to venture outside of my building for things to do. Of course, I do leave my building for work and to attend concerts down the street at either the Aragon or the Riveria.

If you’re looking for a place to live in Chicago that’s up and coming, I suggest you check out The Lawrence House.
