Failure to maintain a healthy skincare habit can gradually lead to dry and cracked skin, thereby making you prone to infections of all sorts such as acne, rash, eczema, wrinkles, and many more challenging skin problems.
To minimize the occurrence of skin problems that could affect your general well-being and health, making a simple day to day skincare routine should be part of your lifestyle.
Here are seven seriously simple skincare habits to adopt and achieve healthy and glowing skin.
1. Wash Your Face
It should be no surprise that washing your face should be number one in your skincare routine. And much like brushing your teeth, you should wash your face both in the morning and at night.
You’ll want to take extra care when washing your face in the evening after wearing makeup all day–if you do. But, keep in mind
2. Drink lots of water
Drinking water is good for the overall health of every individual and brings noticeable changes to your skin. Water helps to keep the body hydrated and moisturized, thereby slowing down dehydration and helping you stay healthy and energized.

Aside from water, fruits like watermelon, amongst other fruits that contain a lot of water are also good for keeping your skin young and bright. Add a touch of lemon to your water for its anti-aging and antioxidant benefits.
3. Always Use Sunscreen
One of the major ways through which your skin experiences damage is through sunlight. Dermatologists around the world have advised using sunscreen with SPF30+ and a 5 star UVA daily.
However, during the winter seasons, you can do away with sunscreen and use other skincare products that contain sunscreen.

4. Exfoliate the skin regularly
Exfoliating is an essential part of skincare that should be practiced as often as possible but also moderately in order to not damage the skin. There are varieties of chemical exfoliants such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, and so on which helps remove dead skin and improves skin tone.

There are natural exfoliants such as turmeric and honey which can also be used–but you should do research and see a dermatologist if you have any questions about chemical or natural exfoliants.
5. Eat Right for Your Skin
Eating fresh fruits and vegetables helps to keep the body healthy and minimizes the level of toxins ingested. Taking care of ourselves should not end with skincare products but also the food we eat.
Taking care of ourselves both inside and out should be our utmost priority.
6. Get Enough Sleep
When you sleep, the cells in your body regenerate themselves; that’s why when you wake up after a good night sleep, you automatically feel refreshed, active, and even excited.

Starting a healthy sleep routine in your 20s is crucial. A minimum of 6 hours of sleep is essential to keep the body fit and “kick-start” your skin with a healthy glow every morning.
7. Keep Your Hands Clean
It is important to wash and also sanitize your hands before touching your skin, especially that of your face. Failure to wash your hands could cause acne to breakout on your face from the bacteria on your hands.
Plus, with COVID going around, washing your hands is a necessity and shouldn’t be skipped when taking care of your skin.
